YEAR OF PRAYER

As we unite in prayer across California, we are committing to seek God’s guidance, power, and provision in reaching the 2% who need to experience the life-changing hope of salvation in Jesus Christ. This campaign is a call for every church to join together in a statewide effort, lifting our voices in unity as we ask God to move mightily in our communities, cities, and state.

This page is your go-to hub for resources to equip your church in this vital mission. From prayer guides to event ideas and more, we’ll be updating this page regularly with new tools and information, so be sure to check back often. Together, let’s align our hearts with God’s purpose and see lives transformed through the power of prayer.

Prepare your heart by reconfirming your faith in God’s spirit and power.
Surrender to His plans and trust His desire to work instead of begging him to accomplish your plans and the work you want to do.
Give clear instructions but stay flexible. If this is a group prayer meeting, consider using the ABC’s of Prayer as the rules for the time.
a. A - Audible. Encourage the participants to raise their voices so all can agree and join them in prayer.
b. B - Brief. Encourage participants to stick to one request or praise at a time. They are encouraged to pray more than once, but we don’t want others to miss their opportunity when long winded prayers take over.
c. C - Clear. We can’t agree with you when we don’t understand what you are saying. Drop the spiritual speak and make simple and clear requests or praises
Explain that we want to pray together (if this is a group prayer meeting).
Give God space to move. Don’t rush through reading the scripture, or the prayer times. Leaders model the prayer prompt and then let the church have time to respond. If they don’t understand how to participate or where to go with the prompt, reword it or look for something else in God’s Word that they can respond to.

When you are leading people in prayer you are taking them right to the source of all their hope and joy.
We work hard to encourage and build people up in our sermons and ministries, but nothing we offer compares to what God can do.
Leading people to pray and in prayer takes humility, faith, and spiritual sensitivity that most leaders have not learned or seen modeled.
The joy of Scripture-Fed prayer is that we are responding to our God and His promises.
We don’t need to manufacture emotions or courage when we can respond to what God is revealing to us. He will provide the faith and move our hearts.
