LifeWay Christian Resources is offering two free resources for kids ministry directors and families to use at home to celebrate the resurrection.

Pastor Juan Carlos Mendez wasn’t allowed in the hospital even though members of the south Los Angeles church he pastors were dying of the coronavirus. So in the final moments of their lives, nurses held up phones so he could assure them, through video conference, of Christ’s presence.

An Interim Final Rule published by the U.S. Small Business Administration provides assurance that churches and other ministries are in fact eligible to receive loans as part of a massive financial stimulus bill passed last week by Congress, and that those faith-based nonprofits will not face potential conflict with religious liberty protections.

While California Southern Baptist pastors say they are grateful for technology which enabled them to be online for church March 22, they also report challenges in using technology effectively.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic “is no time to turn our eyes away from the sanctity of human life,” Southern Baptist ethicist Russell Moore said in a column published Thursday (March 26) in The New York Times.

“Churches and pastors have options available to them depending on their own situations and convictions,” GuideStone President O.S. Hawkins said. “While we would never tell a pastor what he must do, it is good that the options are available for pastors and churches who may wish to avail themselves of the options available through this legislation.”

When it comes to ministry to middle- and high-school students, Alex Davies, pastor of worship and youth at Heights Baptist Church in Billings, Mont., emphasized efforts to become even more intentional in building community.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting has been canceled for the first time in 75 years.
