7 Questions with Sarah Graham

We wrap this series with Sarah Graham, who just celebrated her first year in this current role and is no stranger to CSBC operations. Many years as a worship leader, and even serving on the CSBC Executive Board, Sarah is well-versed in knowing the who’s who in CSBC and SBC faith and culture. Another member of the Executive Team, she self-describes her role as being the “conduit of information from our state, and organizations, to our people” and sees the chief responsibility of her communications team as “We keep people in the know!”

Definitely "SBC This Week" with Amy Whitfield and Jonathan Howe! I have to stay up on all of the SBC news! I always tune in to "The Morning Wire" (from The Daily Wire), and when I have a chance, I try to catch the Carey Nieuwhof Leadership podcast (which is amazing and was recommended to me by Cathie Smith).

Okay, so, Cathie Smith totally stole my answers on this one! But I can tweak my response. The Lord and I already have an arrangement that when I get to heaven (after I lay down my crown and worship him for a few years), I'm going to hightail it to meet Elijah and Elisha. There are just so many crazy miracles in that small section of scripture! I think a lot has to have been omitted for brevity. So of course, there are so many questions I need to ask them!

Obviously the correct answer is over, BUT, since we’ve been doing this feature, I have noticed that the toilet paper in the ladies’ restroom here at the office has been consistently "under." All the ladies have claimed they prefer it over, except for one... Ann [Ann Ehrlich is the CSBC Church Planting Ministry Assistant]. I think Ann is going around putting the toilet paper under! She’s punking us! I’m convinced...

"We" is better than "I." Earlier in my life, I spent a good amount of time focused on myself and trying to get others to focus on me. I have since learned the blessings of being in community and discovering how much better life can be when we can hold one another up.

The most important role I think is being a true Christian neighbor. The world is looking at us with a side-eye because the media is telling people what to think about us [as Southern Baptists and as Christians]. To the best of my ability, I feel I need to exemplify what being a Christian neighbor is really all about.

New York! I have planned so many times to go and I keep getting stymied. I want to see a bunch of shows and do the whole New York thing; eat a Gray's Papaya hotdog, ride the subway –NY has its own culture! I have been all over the world, Monaco, Turkey, Guatemala, the UK, but somehow, I just can't seem to make it to New York...

Sovereign. I find that side of God to be more comforting today, than when I was younger. I have learned to lean in and trust His sovereignty instead of fighting His plan. I have enough life experience now to know that even when the days feel yucky, His way is always going to be better than anything I could want for myself.
