Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope

As Women’s History Month comes to a close, we take a look at CSBC’s Women’s Ministry Network

Most of us know that March is typically Women’s History Month, but did you know each year has its own theme? I didn’t! (And I’m a woman!) “Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope” is the 2022 theme. The theme highlights the tireless efforts of women who have served as caretakers and frontline working during the Corona Virus pandemic. I have a deep appreciation for all the hard-working women in the trenches who have been tending to the sick, but I have to admit, they were not my first thought.

When I read “women providing healing, promoting hope,” I first think of the prayer warriors on their knees for countless hours lifting up their family and friends. I think of the pastor’s wife making a hospital run in the wee hours of the morning to sit with a congregation member whose husband suddenly fell ill. I think of the tons and tons AND TONS of food prepared and delivered in love to families in need.

Our world is desperate for hope, but the believer knows true hope is a gift from the Father above. In Romans 15, the Apostle Paul says, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” And the Psalmist writes, “Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from Him. Truly He is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken.” (Psalm 62)

Our churches are brimming with faithful women offering hope in more ways than we count. We honor all of you during Women’s History Month. Thank you for being women of God, led by the Spirit, offering real hope in practical ways throughout our state and into the world. And as Women’s History Month draws to a close, I’d like to introduce you to two important resources for women.

First, we are excited to share that CSBC is developing a communal space for California Southern Baptist women to learn, grow, be encouraged, and pray for one another. If you have women in your church who would benefit from this online community, invite them to join our “Women’s Ministry Network” Facebook page here. We believe every woman has both something to glean and something to offer.

Second, in honor of Women’s History Month, you are invited to get to know CSBC’s Women’s Ministry Director, Cathie Smith. Cathie joined our staff in the fall of 2021 and has been serving our women well. I had the pleasure of interviewing Cathie online as an introduction to the women in our state. If you would like to hear a little of her story, take a moment to watch the video interview here.

Happy Women’s History Month!
