Telling HIS Story Through YOUR Story

We all have a story to tell.

God is the author of our individual and unique stories! Each one is a bestseller filled with page-turning chapters just waiting to be read!

When we become a born-again believer, our “story” becomes our “testimony” of what our life was like before Jesus, when we accepted Him and what difference He makes in our lives now as our Risen Savior. This chapter is key in telling His story.

Sometimes, my chapters read like an action and adventure novel. Other times, it’s more like a mystery or suspense thriller. Other chapters are like a comedy or crazy fiction novel. Can you relate?

Regardless of the genre, our stories should always CONNECT to how God is using us to fulfill the Great Commission. “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:19-20 (KJV)

Part of my story is about the privilege of serving as a missionary to the people in Uganda. This adventure began when I went on a mission trip seventeen years ago. I said “YES” to God when He said, “GO” (Isaiah 6:8). I had no idea what exciting stories were just waiting to be written! My personal journals turned into updates that I began numbering as chapters to coincide with each trip. So far, my call to Africa has filled twenty-six rich chapters of watching God do what only He can do!

I write as a storyteller.

My desire is for people to feel what I feel and see what I see. I ask people to grab a cup of coffee or tea, settle into a comfy chair, and join the adventure with me! I invite readers into my story by CONNECTING them to one another.

Over the last sixteen years, our stories have been making a difference. The students testify that they have a chance for a bright future that otherwise would be hopeless. We extend our education commitment to include universities or trade schools to help their dreams become a reality.

Last year, we had a “Send-Off Celebration” for five of our students. The range of studies included social work, journalism, hotel management/baking, nursing, and seminary. We help them to acquire jobs and move out on their own. They remain CONNECTED to our ministry by staying actively involved in our community and church ministry.

We are a small organization committed to going “deep before wide.” We CONNECTED to them as individuals, not numbers. We invested in going “deep” in discipleship to give them the foundation needed to become authentic followers of Jesus Christ. They will be the ones who will “widen” the scope of our ministry in the years to come. Our story glorifies God as they become world changers for Him.

In the definition of a story above it mentioned the CONNECTION told through music as a form of communication. The message in these two songs below connects to the reason I have a story to tell:

  • EVERYTHING TO ME (by Avalon) –  “He’s more than a story – More than words on a page of history He’s the air that I breathe – The water I thirst for – And the ground beneath my feet He’s everything, everything to me.”
  • I BELIEVE IT (by Jon Reddick) – “It’s not just a story – It’s a living, breathing, walking testimony of a God so good – He’d leave His home in glory for the world that He so loved. It’s not just a story.”

Yes, we ALL have a story. But we are so much more. We are living, breathing, walking testimonies of the goodness and grace of God.

Your bestseller may not be sitting on a shelf at the local bookstore. But believe me, people have already been reading HIS story through watching your life.

Who else needs to hear how He is more than words on a page? I am ready to grab a cup of coffee and read your story! CONNECT others to THE story by telling YOUR story!
