At this point, we are 83 days from Christmas and you’re probably working up the gift list for your family and friends. But this week, let us share with you a much smaller list. A list for the person who spends the long hours crafting a message to deliver each Sunday. The person who shows up Wednesday night to encourage the women’s group for their efforts. The person who rushes over and jumps into action when the church’s pipes spring a leak. The person who holds your mom’s hand while she’s going through hospice. What to get for the person who is there for so many?
Read on to see what our pastor panelists say have been their very favorite gifts received for Pastor Appreciation Month.
Pete Ramirez shared that his favorite gift had been a 2-night stay in San Francisco for him and his wife. “It was a great little getaway for us to be able to experience!”
Jason Robertson said, “One time my church did a theme basket for my family and me. My wife LOVED it! My church family that had organized this gift instructed everyone to bring items with my favorite sports team on them. Go LSU Tigers!”
“I received a signed photo from the entire high school and middle school group,” remarked Gregory Perkins. “This picture still hangs in my house. All those kids – the middle school group are in high school now, and the high school group are all in college. Seeing these kids grow in my church has been a blessing.”
Jason Blankenship commented, “My church did a love offering and gifted me with $1500. In addition to that, they made a huge banner to hang across our fellowship hall that read ‘Jason, we love you!’.”
Lastly, Francis Chung discussed, “On one particular Sunday service, this younger kid put my name down on an offering envelope and filled it with his pocket change. That is a special memory that stays with me always.”
This coming Sunday is Pastor Appreciation Day. Whether you’ve planned to hang a banner, bring a gift basket, or simply take a moment with your pastor to share your appreciation, it all matters and it all means a great deal to them.
