8 Easter Season Outreach Ideas

In all of history, there is one major hinge point. One moment. One event in time so significant that it has eclipsed every other event since the creation of the world. That event, of course, is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. For churches, no other Sunday is as important. Without Easter, we have no church, no pathway to a relationship with God, and no eternal life as a gift when “we make His soul an offering for sin” (Is. 53:10). Easter Sunday is our Super Bowl, so let’s consider some Easter outreach ideas, as well as some pre-Easter outreach for which Easter service can be something to invite your community back to.

  • VIP gift boxes/bags. Create a gift box or bag with goodies that members can take and use to invite friends to Easter. First Southern Baptist Porterville did this. They made 30 boxes and had 10 visitors.
  • Puppy Party for kids’ ministry. Find a breeder who can bring puppies and announce that the kids’ ministry will have X-many puppies on Sunday – invite friends. You’ll get kids and helicopter moms with them.
  • Lego party
  • Special Needs respite (childcare for parents with special needs kids so they can have a date night)
  • Mommy-and-me play date. Moms with little ones would love to have an adult conversation.
  • Teacher/Firefighter/Police appreciation Easter meal
  • Start of a needs-based ministry – DivorceCare, Financial Peace, Student Scholarship seminar, GriefShare, English as a Second Language classes, etc.
  • Cooking class for single moms for quick meals-on-the-go.

If you can identify strengths within your church and needs within your community, you have a sweet spot that your church should aim to minister within. Just try something! If it is a miss, that’s okay. Learn, and try again.

If your church has given to the Cooperative Program within the last 12 months, CSBC can help with funds to assist your outreach. This link will take you to a $500 grant request form to help financially support your outreach project. https://csbc.com/evangelism/grant-request/

Romans 10:14-15b says, “How, then, can they call on Him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about Him? And how can they hear without a preacher? And how can they preach unless they are sent?”  May we all remember to focus on the word “sent.” Church, do all you can to SEND your church into the community, invite the community, and create conversations for your people to preach!
