4 Resources for Today’s Youth Leader

Youth culture is moving rapidly and always changing. Students grow up quickly, and things become irrelevant faster among emerging generations with social media and current trends. Additionally, many youth pastors are part-time or bi-vocational. With all these factors, it is most likely that if you asked your youth pastor if they could use some ideas and resources, they would say yes! Every youth pastor needs ideas and resources to help supplement and provide content for Bible studies, retreats, games, and small groups. Each idea and resource assists youth workers in making disciples in their unique ministry context.

There are a lot of options out there, yet youth pastors need to focus on the vital ideas and resources for youth evangelism to make student ministry missional. When the ideas and resources focus only on activities and fun, the evangelistic emphasis in the ministry is diminished. When a high priority is put on youth evangelism, everyone starts to capture the vision to live on fire for the Lord and win their friends to Jesus. Youth pastors need to gravitate to Gospel-centered ideas and resources because those are the best kind of tools to create a culture of youth evangelism in the church.

Early on in my youth ministry career, I learned that I could not do it all on my own creativity. I needed to learn what others were doing and be inspired to accomplish effective youth evangelism. Below are some of the ideas and resources I have tested in my ministry and have seen work effectively among churches for youth evangelism.

  1. Dare 2 Share Ministries. Greg Stier has been doing youth evangelism for decades and has an expansive catalog of free curriculum, gospel games, gospel-advancing values, and eBooks to read and be inspired to grow your youth ministry. Greg is most famous for his book Gospelize. When you gospelize your ministry, everything changes in your leadership and students. You start believing God. Because of Dare 2 Share, we always have an invitation to receive Christ in our youth service, and we do response cards at all of our outreach events to follow up with students. 1. Decision Point. The greatest youth mission field in North America is our schools. We need to take the church to our local schools through Christian Clubs and Campus Outreach while creating a bridge to invite and bring students to our youth ministries. Decision Point has created an amazing Free Outreach Kit that you can implement immediately with your students. They also have the 5 Gospel Challenges that allow students to pick and choose which way they want to start doing evangelism. Not only do they have tested and tried resources for use, but they also offer pastoral coaching and follow-up. They believe in the local church and want your youth evangelism efforts to have long-lasting effects in your community. Click here to get started with their team: https://decisionpoint.org/pastors
  1. 9-Month Mission Trip. Travis Deans from NNYM (National Network of Youth Ministries) has taken the best youth evangelism initiatives throughout the school year and put them into a journal called the 9-Month Mission Trip. Students are at school for 9 months of the year, so why not use your youth to reach the classmates God puts in their lives? The journal features monthly events students can do with their youth groups and incorporates some of the best evangelism apps and tracts to start gospel conversations. 1. CSBC Youth & Youth Pastor Collective. There is a new youth movement taking off in California among our churches. CSBC Youth launched in January 2022 and now hosts two youth evangelism conferences: one in NorCal and another in SoCal. These are perfect opportunities to expose your students to world-class Gospel communicators and ignite revival in their hearts. The Youth Pastor Collective was created to regionalize our network and connect others across youth ministries toward growth while learning from each other. Follow us on social media and visit our website to join this new youth movement: www.csbcyouth.com

These are proven resources your youth pastor can utilize to grow your student ministry in 2024. Using Gospel-centered ideas and resources is a great investment because they make youth evangelism a priority in your church.
