Sartain named CSBC Small Church Initiatives Team leader

Ken Sartain, senior pastor of First Baptist Church, Hughson, was elected May 10 by the California Southern Baptist Convention Executive Board to lead the Small Church Initiatives Team . He will begin his duties June 1.

He succeeds Tom Belew who initially was tapped to lead the team, but died unexpectedly in December 2017.

In addition to serving as pastor of the Hughson congregation, Sartain, since 1995, has served as president and chief executive officer of “Connecting with Purpose,” a support partner to churches focusing on revitalization through church health and leadership.

A Navy veteran, Sartain directed a special operations laboratory for a major Department of Defense contractor, was senior technology director for a line of businesses dealing with complex technology applications and executive director for a corporate labor management organization providing processional services to Fortune 250 companies.

Ken studied behavioral psychology at Valdosta State College, general business at Kennesaw State University and computer science at Orange County College.

He and his wife, Susan, have three adult sons.
