Our International Mission Board President, Paul Chitwood, sent a timely reminder this week, sharing that before any missionary learns a new language, before a new church takes root overseas, or before a single person hears the name of Jesus for the first time, somebody first prayed.
The Week of Prayer for International Missions may have kicked off already, but it is never too late to join in. Each day’s focus highlights real IMB missionaries serving across the globe and invites us to intercede for Gospel advancement among the nations.
The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering will be underway very soon, and our prayers strengthen missionaries, open doors, and move the Gospel into places where Christ has not yet been named.
It was the Apostle Paul who asked the timeless question in his letter to the Romans:
How then are they to call on Him in whom they have not believed? How are they to believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher? But how are they to preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those whobring good news of good things!” (Romans 10:14)
Our answer in California has been clear. We pray, we give, and we go. This year, our churches have picked up the mantle of prayer again, and living that out means standing shoulder to shoulder with those taking the Gospel to the ends of the earth.
