The Convention just concluded our 77th annual meeting, and Thanksgiving is coming soon.
Thanksgiving then gives way to Christmas when we celebrate the birth of Jesus.
I am filled with gratitude for all God has done in my life and in the life of the Convention.
I am filled with gratitude for God calling me to serve in California. The challenge is great but equally great is the opportunity to make a Kingdom difference in our state.
To be able to give leadership to CSBC is something for which I give thanks to the Lord. God has brought together an amazing group of people who genuinely care about each other and the churches they have the privilege of serving. That was very apparent at the recent state convention meeting, where everyone pitched in to make it a wonderful time of worship, fellowship and challenge as we looked to the future of Southern Baptists in California.
I am filled with gratitude for the display of support from every pastor, every church, every director of missions, every church planting catalyst, every agency and every people group that has received me and my wife Pam with open arms.
I know it takes cooperation and support from all hands to address the needs in California. I will never take for granted the way we have been welcomed into your lives.
I am filled with gratitude as I think about God sending His Son into the world to provide salvation for me and, thankfully, for my family as well. Each of my children and their spouses know and serve the Lord. My grandchildren are being raised in a healthy environment where God is honored and love is demonstrated on a daily basis. Two of the three have professed Jesus as their Saviour, and I am confident the youngest will make that decision as well.
I am filled with gratitude for God’s guidance and direction.
We will pause to worship King Jesus this Christmas season, then turn our thoughts and energy toward fulfilling the vision God has laid out before us. There are great days ahead as we contemplate the new year and what He will do.
So, at this special time, let’s pause and give thanks with a grateful heart for all God has done and will do in the days ahead.
