Recently, ministers’ wives throughout California had the opportunity to come out of our routine, share together with others, and be ministered to. It was an exquisite chance to hear how God has worked in our midst despite difficulties and unstable circumstances, as well as a fresh reminder on how He continues to use faithful women to show his love and faithfulness to a broken world. There was something extremely familiar in all the experiences shared… everyone was attuned to each other’s hearts and perfectly understood, not just the content, but the spirit and the emotions that came along with it simply because everyone had experienced it firsthand! It was seen in women’s eyes, the nodding of the heads, and the verbal and nonverbal expressions being conveyed throughout the room. It was a lovely reminder that, though we may come from different backgrounds and even speak in different languages, we share the same calling, the same Spirit and the same Lord, Jesus.

Over the weekend, we were also challenged to contemplate and be intentional about our LEGACY. And what a great reminder this was, because even though we are aware of our finite time on this side of eternity, we can easily lose focus and forget what the most important thing is and who we do it all for. In all the messages, testimonies, prayers, and panel, we were reminded that although we may not feel fully prepared or capable for the work ahead of us, He is with us and has chosen to do His work through us, while, at the same time, He works in us, not expecting perfection, but demanding complete obedience. Our challenge is to be intentional and obedient in the limited time we have, forsaking all other goals, including our own, and focusing on His calling and purpose for our life.

We were reminded that women’s contributions in our churches are of vital importance in the sharing of the Gospel to an unbelieving world, as well as in the cementing and nurturing of our faith in our next generations, finally, in the overall health of the church. God works His good and perfect will all around us and gives all His daughters the privilege to be used by him in different roles and in all stages of life. All experiences and backgrounds are useful in His hands as He is the master of turning ashes into beauty. By the end of our time together we had kin appreciation by being part of something greater than us, and our hearts were strengthen and encouraged to continue sharing the Gospel and doing His work.

In a rainy but beautiful weekend we experienced God’s presence move freely among us in worship. We dared to be vulnerable and shared in our challenges and doubts. We laughed, cried, and rejoiced together as one! We made friends and extended each other’s arms in support as we continue pressing on to the finish line… as we minister to the next generation by making disciples, as we await in faithfulness for our Master to return… as we build a legacy for Him!

Don’t miss next year’s Ministers’ Wives’ Retreat. More good things are yet to come.
