Explore the Rim events began over two years ago when the global pandemic forced borders throughout the world to close and prevented our stateside partners from partnering with us here in the Asia Pacific Rim as we have traditionally partnered in the past via short-term mission trips. Although borders were closed, our partners still had an unquenchable desire to stay connected to what God was doing on the mission field and to learn how they might continue to partner with us through praying and giving until the borders opened and they could travel once again to physically serve alongside us as well.
These virtual events have grown into a powerful option to bring IMB missionaries and our supporters together to help us better explore and appreciate the many avenues we have available to partner together in taking the gospel to the very edges of lostness. In fact, our last event had so much interest that we actually exceeded our online hosting capacity and were forced to schedule an additional night!
The first 2023 Explore the Rim virtual mission event will be on April 27, 2023, at 9 PM Eastern/6 PM Pacific time and offers you a chance to witness how God is at work across the Asia-Pacific Rim without ever leaving the comfort of your living room. The journey will begin by exploring the Asia-Pacific Rim, a vibrant and diverse region stretching from Mongolia in the north to the Pacific islands in the south. It is home to 2.3 billion people and thousands of people groups, over 95% of whom are living in spiritual darkness.
In this hour-long event, participants will first hear testimonies from IMB missionaries serving on the front lines across the Asian Pacific Rim. During the second half-hour, participants will choose from one of 23 live breakout rooms where they will meet and interact with these and other IMB missionaries to learn more about a particular country or ministry they are interested in.
Past attendees have said Explore the Rim events were “encouraging, challenging, and informative” and “truly a blessing to hear from missionaries on the field and learn more of what others are doing around the world.”
Breakout Rooms Include:
Cambodia
Chinese Peoples Indonesia
Japan
Korea
Laos
Malaysia
Mongolia
Myanmar
Philippines
Singapore
